  • Imbellus

    Participated · Equity · Sep 2016

Imbellus builds simulation-based cognitive assessments that evaluate how people think instead of what they know. The company designs complex, abstract simulation challenges by working with organizations known for creativity and problem solving to study real-world skill application. It translates observed skills and attributes into the language of learning science and psychometrics to create assessments. Imbellus aims to replace standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT and AP exams. Rebecca Kantar is the founder and CEO. The company is based in Los Angeles and completed a $14.5M Series A, bringing total funding to $23M. Imbellus develops non–multiple choice, interactive tests designed to assess how candidates think—focusing on creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving rather than rote memorization. The company is working with CRESST to design these assessments and to identify attributes linked to top job performance. Launched last fall, Imbellus partners with employers to benchmark desirable attributes and has secured a partnership with a major Fortune 500 company to design a tailored screening process. Founder Rebecca Kantar, who dropped out of Harvard at 19, previously sold a company to GLG and leads the team. Investors in the company include Upfront Ventures, Thrive Capital, GLG and Ashton Kutcher’s Sound Ventures, which backed a $4 million raise. The team says it hopes the approach will reform corporate hiring and eventually influence the education system.

  • Kyruus

    Participated · Series A · Jun 2011

Kyruus builds provider search and scheduling solutions for healthcare organizations through its ProviderMatch platform. The platform includes ProviderMatch for Consumers and ProviderMatch DirectBook, enabling patients to find providers and book appointments directly into health systems' electronic health records. Kyruus's provider data management spans more than 300,000 providers and underpins a consistent digital access experience for health systems and health plans. The company expanded into payer-provider access channels with its 2021 acquisition of HealthSparq. Kyruus plans to deepen product development and care navigation capabilities through a strategic partnership with UPMC. As part of that partnership, UPMC made a direct investment into Kyruus. Kyruus provides provider search and scheduling solutions for health systems via its ProviderMatch suite and an enterprise provider data management platform. The platform connects consumers with the right providers across virtual and in-person appointments and supports access centers and care settings. Kyruus says it serves 600 hospitals and more than a quarter of a million providers across the U.S. The company reports its platform was critical to facilitating patient access during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kyruus plans to expand its platform, broaden its footprint with health systems, and enter new market segments. Its messaging emphasizes market leadership in the patient access category, a mission-driven team, a premium partner network, and proven customer impact. Kyruus delivers an enterprise ProviderMatch suite that powers provider search, routing and scheduling for health systems. The platform includes a provider data management engine used across consumer, access center, and care-setting workflows. Kyruus says it serves more than 250,000 providers and one in five U.S. healthcare providers, and works with over 50 of the top 300 health systems. The company has built integrations and partnerships across the digital health ecosystem, including Brandify and Uber Health, and with best-of-breed EHR, CRM, patient review, and virtual care vendors. Kyruus plans product enhancements to improve routing, schedule optimization, and to extend scheduling to new entities, and is developing partnerships with payers and large employers. To support growth it planned to hire 100 new team members in 2020. Kyruus builds ProviderMatch, a product that helps health systems match patients with the right providers across online search, phone calls, and referrals. The company launched ProviderMatch for Salesforce, which integrates into Salesforce Health Cloud on the Salesforce AppExchange. The tool aims to deliver an end-to-end patient experience by matching patients, booking appointments, and providing providers with new data management capabilities. Kyruus says it manages over 150,000 providers across health systems, reflecting recent major growth. The company’s stated mission is to reduce the time it takes patients to schedule doctor visits while ensuring they find the right provider. Kyruus is hiring to support its expansion. Kyruus is a Boston-based health IT company whose ProviderMatch suite helps health systems match patients with the right providers. ProviderMatch includes scheduling and smart-search tools designed to simplify appointment booking and reduce misdirected referrals. The company serves more than 400 hospital clients, including University of Miami Health System, USF Health, Emory Healthcare, and Providence St. Joseph Health. Kyruus has pursued collaborations with Salesforce and IBM Watson and will use the new funding to expand its product development and delivery teams and integrate its platform with other healthcare organizations. Kyruus raised $10 million in a new financing round to support this growth. Providence St. Joseph Health has invested in Kyruus through its venture fund, Providence Ventures. Previously, in 2015 the company raised $25 million in a Series C led by New Leaf Venture Partners with participation from Venrock, McKesson Ventures, Highland Capital Partners, and Fidelity Biosciences.
