Overview
GNI is a Japanese subsidiary of the US corporation Gene Networks, Inc.(2008 liquidation) and started with basic research on gene analysis by a small team of young scientists. Later, it was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers in 2007 and launched in 2014 as a full-fledged pharmaceutical company by launching a new drug. The Group has business bases in China and Japan, two of the world's largest economies, and has its own pharmaceutical factory in China, thereby conducting integrated business activities from new drug discovery and clinical development to manufacturing and sales. This is extremely rare in the biotech industry.

The platform draws on Dr. Yue Xiong’s foundational work since 1998 identifying catalytic and regulatory components and assembly mechanisms of cullin-RING E3 ubiquitin ligases. Cullgen’s founders, including Dr. Xiong and Dr. Jian Jin, have developed multiple new chemical entities (NCEs) against cancer targets and have filed multiple patent applications. Initial discovery programs will focus on oncology with planned expansion into inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The company is incorporated in Delaware and will initiate research operations in the United States, Japan, and China. Cullgen has established a scientific advisory board and a board of directors that includes executives from its lead investor, GNIG.
