Candela builds electric hydrofoiling vessels, including its flagship P-12 ferry, which the company says consumes up to 80% less energy than conventional ferries and offers faster travel times due to hydrofoiling. The company highlights significantly lower operating costs and reduced maintenance requirements because of fewer moving parts, along with near-silent operation and minimal wake. Candela reported 65 vessels on order from customers across Europe, North America, and other regions, demonstrating growing commercial traction. Following the recent €30 million funding round, the company plans to scale manufacturing capacity, strengthen its supply chain, expand into new international markets, and broaden partnerships with operators and municipalities. Candela is also focused on continued refinement and commercialization of its hydrofoiling technology to accelerate adoption of electric maritime transport.
