  Hatch Baby develops connected baby-care hardware and companion software, including the Grow connected changing mat and the Rest children’s sleep-regulating light, plus a service that offers Q&A with childcare professionals. Its Alexa Skill already tracks diaper changes, nursing sessions, bottle feeds, sleeps and a baby’s weight. The company is expanding voice integrations and content for Amazon’s Alexa as part of a strategic partnership. Financially, Hatch has raised $18.7 million to date and was last valued around $36.5 million according to PitchBook. The company is currently working on its next round of funding. The product aims to make weighing fidgety infants easier and to reduce unnecessary doctor visits by letting parents track nutrition and growth from home. Hatch Baby faces at least one competitor—Withings’ Smart Kid Scale, which retails for $179.95—but differentiates by combining a changing pad with a scale. The company plans to use new funding to complete the Smart Changing Pad, develop tech-based services for its user community, and eventually launch additional products.
