  Founded in 2023 out of a collaboration with Cummins Turbo Technologies, Holdson develops electroform™, an acid-free electrochemical polishing technology that enhances metal parts by removing surface imperfections, boosting fatigue life and enabling the finishing of intricate internal geometries. Its equipment and services help manufacturers streamline post-processing, reduce manual intervention, and scale production of both additively manufactured and traditionally cast parts. The company already serves customers across the UK, Europe, the United States and Asia and has grown to a team of 18 employees. Key sectors addressed include aerospace, defence, medical, energy and nuclear fusion, where demand for stronger, more reliable components continues to rise. Holdson positions its technology as a cost-competitive alternative that supports higher volume production and increasingly complex designs. With fresh capital, management plans to expand manufacturing capacity for its electroform devices and deepen market penetration across advanced manufacturing verticals. Although no revenue figures have been disclosed, rapid customer adoption and investor backing suggest growing commercial traction.

  Hyperdrive Innovation is a Sunderland-based developer and manufacturer of lithium-ion energy storage technologies and patented battery management systems. The company supplies battery packs for automotive, commercial vehicles, off-highway vehicles, industrial robots and stationary energy storage, and has electrified an autonomous marine vehicle and supplied batteries for Europe’s fastest road-legal EV. It expects to launch two new modular battery systems later this year and can ramp production at its Sunderland plant to 10,000 battery packs a year. Hyperdrive’s battery management technology is adaptable to different cell chemistries and the company acts as a development and manufacturing partner for OEMs. Formed in 2012, Hyperdrive is a founder member of the North East Automotive Alliance and is actively recruiting in engineering and operational roles. The company is seeking experienced battery distribution partners and plans productivity improvements in battery pack manufacture.
