Tripoto operates a social travel platform launched in 2014 that lets users discover and share complete travel itineraries, photos, maps, reviews and recommendations. The platform hosts content from friends, global travelers and celebrities and enables users to upload visual travel itineraries and share experiences. It also offers community features to meet like-minded travellers and lets users act as local guides to generate leads. In addition to its consumer-facing product, Tripoto provides a B2B CRM platform for travel agents. The company intends to use recent funding to expand its offerings and reach. The business is based in New Delhi, India and was founded by Anirudh Gupta and Michael Lyngdoh. Tripoto operates a web and mobile publishing platform that lets users crowd-source and publish travel itineraries and experiences. The company, founded in September 2013 by Anirudh Gupta and Michael Pargal Lyngdoh and based in Delhi, claims about 250,000 itineraries on its platform and more than 1 million social interactions per month. Tripoto positions itself as the largest curated source of user-generated travel itineraries and competes with marketplace-style travel startups. The company plans to use newly raised funds to improve technology and boost site content by adding videos, automated content-creation tools, social publishing features and enhanced personalization. Prior to this round, Tripoto raised an undisclosed pre-Series A in March from IDG Ventures India and existing investor Outbox Ventures. The product is focused on community publishing and discovery rather than a transactions marketplace. Tripoto operates a travel content and community sharing platform that lets travelers share and discover itineraries, stories, photos, maps and reviews. The site launched in early 2014 and has grown into one of the largest global traveler communities, with close to a million monthly users on web and mobile. Over the three months prior to the article, Tripoto reported 100% growth in web traffic and even higher growth in mobile traffic, and its app has been consistently rated among the top travel apps on Android and iOS. The company plans to focus on rapid mobile growth in 2015, scale up its community, expand globally and augment its technology and creative teams. Tripoto aims to disrupt the travel content and community segment by improving usefulness for travelers and continuing product development. Tripoto operates Tripoto.com, a platform that lets users crowdsource travel itineraries and share trip stories, photos, maps and reviews. Users can post itineraries and choose to share them publicly or privately, with public itineraries accessible to the whole travel community. The company offers an Android app and was planning to launch an iOS app in about a week; raised funds will be used to build a content team and consolidate technology. Tripoto currently generates revenue through ads and sponsored posts and plans to add affiliate channels and hotel stay integrations tied to itineraries. The site is receiving around 300,000 unique visitors per month and more than 650,000 unique page views. The founders aim to scale the travel community globally and make Tripoto a preferred choice for travelers; they plan to raise the next round in 8–12 months.
