QunaSys gathers research scientists to develop algorithms that maximize the potential of quantum computing and to produce applications usable without special expertise. The company is active in quantum-computing R&D and manages the QPARC industry consortium to help partners learn about quantum computers. Its technical focus includes quantum-chemical calculations and quantum machine learning, as well as efforts to fuse those fields. Through its work QunaSys aims to apply research toward practical new applications, including in materials discovery. The company says these capabilities can reduce time and cost of R&D and facilitate more efficient exploration of low-environmental-impact materials. QunaSys intends to deepen collaborations with industrial partners to tackle major manufacturing challenges. QunaSys develops algorithms and chemical software to accelerate applicability of quantum computing, centered on Qamuy, its cloud-accessible quantum computing development solution that runs on multiple platforms. The company targets chemical-related industries with use cases including energy analysis, molecular structure optimization and sustainable materials. QunaSys plans to use new funding to accelerate development of more usable quantum computing chemical software and to expand overseas by opening a European base. Led by CEO Tennin Yan, the firm has expanded its R&D and business development activities since 2019 and reports record business growth. In July 2020 QunaSys established QPARC, a Japanese consortium that has grown to include more than 50 companies (including ENEOS Holding and JSR Corporation) to study quantum computing applicability.
