  • Juno Bio

    Participated · Seed · Jul 2026

Juno Bio offers an at-home vaginal microbiome test that screens for bacteria, fungi and some sexually transmitted infections, and provides an analysis of microbes linked to conditions like bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections. Tests are available in 46 states and are priced at $149 for a single test or $99 for a test every three months, with patients able to book a free follow-up call with a company coach to review results and next steps. The company cites data indicating 67.5% of its customers had been incorrectly diagnosed before using the test and only 13% had been successfully treated. Juno Bio is establishing a CLIA-certified sequencing lab in Oakland to bring testing in-house, improve turnaround and support future research and clinical standardization. Founder and chief science officer Leighton Turner and CEO Hana Janebdar have framed the next phase as scaling clinical infrastructure, expanding access to actionable care and advancing understanding of the vaginal microbiome.

  • Pillar Biosciences

    Participated · Equity · May 2025

Pillar Biosciences develops next‑generation sequencing (NGS) testing solutions for precision oncology under its Decision Medicine™ approach. Its proprietary SLIMamp® and PiVAT® technologies power rapid targeted sequencing panels and distributable clinical testing kits. The company offers more than 20 NGS testing kits in IVD or RUO formats and has multiple panels in development. Pillar says it has seen strong commercial growth and is focused on expanding adoption of its kits and biopharma partnerships. Proceeds from the recent financing will be used to grow headcount and infrastructure to support commercial activities and partnerships. The company has operations in Natick, Massachusetts, and says the new capital will help it move closer to profitability. Pillar Biosciences develops NGS-based clinical cancer diagnostics using its SLIMamp®- and PiVAT®-based products to serve high-throughput reference and clinical oncology laboratories. Its panels are compatible with Illumina®, Ion Torrent™, and MGI™ sequencing platforms. The company recently received New York State Department of Health approval for a custom product and CE approval for its first in vitro diagnostic panel, the Pillar® ONCO/Reveal® Lung and Colon Cancer Assay. That assay guides prescription of six therapies simultaneously, reduces repeat testing, and enables treatment decisions in four days. Pillar has secured distributors in Israel, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, and ASEAN countries. The company intends to use new funding to accelerate expansion of its IVD and research-use-only panels and advance global commercial outreach. Pillar Biosciences develops NGS-based clinical oncology tests using a patent-pending targeted sequencing technology platform and a proprietary data analysis toolkit. The company has released beta versions of a Lung & Colon Cancer Somatic Mutation Panel and a BRCA1 & BRCA2 Germline Mutation Panel to cancer centers and clinical testing companies in the US and China for validation studies. It intends to use recent funding to continue R&D in tumor tissue genotyping and to integrate back-end information analytics capabilities. Pillar also plans to add liquid biopsy products for cancer therapeutic decision-making and treatment monitoring. The company received an $18M venture capital investment to support these efforts.

  • Truveta

    Participated · Series C · Jan 2025

Truveta aggregates de-identified EHR data from a coalition of health systems into Truveta Data, a daily-updated, regulatory-grade dataset representing over 120 million patients. Launched in 2020, the company is a collaboration of some 30 health systems aligned on a mission to save lives with data. Its platform includes the Truveta Language Model, a large-language, multimodal AI model run on Microsoft Azure to normalize and transform billions of data points. Truveta is expanding into genotypic data through the Truveta Genome Project to link exomes and future multi-omics sequencing to clinical records. The combined genotypic and phenotypic database is intended for biopharma and academic research to accelerate drug discovery, optimize clinical trials, and train AI models. Data privacy and de-identification, along with Azure as the exclusive cloud provider for the genome project, are core operational elements described in the articles. Truveta collects privacy-safe, de-identified medical data from partner health systems and aggregates it for researchers. It partners with around 20 medical providers and ingests regular data from 42 states, aiming to build a living medical portrait of America. The company provides a software service that lets public-health researchers filter populations and drop into a Jupyter Notebook to build dashboards with data that updates daily. CEO Terry Myerson, formerly of Microsoft, says Truveta has its sights on 16% of all clinical care in the United States. Truveta has shared COVID-19 analyses from its platform, including findings that adverse events occur in fewer than 1% of fully vaccinated people and that Moderna patients showed 40% more events than Pfizer in their dataset. The company is not a nonprofit (it pays taxes), maintains an anti-advertising stance licensed for ethical medical research, and recently raised $100 million, bringing its capital base to around $200 million. Truveta operates a provider-led platform that brings together daily de-identified clinical data from its member health systems to deliver insights to clinicians and researchers. The platform aggregates tens of millions of patients and thousands of care facilities across 40 states and represents more than 15% of U.S. patient care. Truveta aims to help researchers find cures faster, empower clinicians with better data, and improve treatment and outcomes for diverse populations. The company emphasizes statistical representation across geography, race, ethnicity and other socioeconomic dimensions to address health disparities. Governance and investment come from its health system members, and earnings health providers receive from Truveta are intended to be reinvested into their communities. Truveta plans to hire technologists and health-data experts and invest in infrastructure and cloud-computing resources to build and scale the platform.
