Overview

Innosight Ventures leverages more than 20 years of applied research by innovation thought leaders like Clayton Christensen and field work by the Innosight Consulting Team. We have distilled that work into a set of proprietary tools and work practices that allow us to quickly screen opportunities and work side-by-side with entrepreneurs to help them build great companies. We invest only in Singapore-based early-stage startup companies that have high potential for disrupting existing markets and creating new ones. Generally speaking, we ask 5 questions about any potential investment: Is there an important problem that customers can't address because existing solutions are expensive or inconvenient? . Is there a disruptive way to solve the problem by being simpler, more convenient, or more affordable? . Is there a plausible hypothesis about an economically attractive, scalable business model? .. Does the team have the 'right stuff' to manage the process of emergent learning? . Can early profitability be a choice? . Our usual investment quantum is up to half a million Singapore dollars in each company. However, if the answer to all the above questions is positive and the team is going to need more that , we are open to co-investing with other venture capital firms and/or angels. In the past, we have lead investment rounds where some of the companies have raised in the range of SGD 1 – 2 million.

  • YFind Technologies

    Led · Seed · May 2013

YFind provides Wi‑Fi-based indoor positioning and analytics for malls, tracking unique visitors who have Wi‑Fi enabled and offering roughly 3‑meter accuracy indoors. Its core product includes TheRetailHQ dashboard, which displays heat maps, identifies repeat visitors, measures dwell time, and includes some predictive analytics. The service does not rely on GPS, allowing tracking in dense indoor environments. Customers—shop owners and mall operators—use the analytics to locate heavy foot-traffic areas and tailor promotions. YFind is headquartered in Singapore and is preparing to expand internationally. It plans to open offices in New York and Hong Kong this year, with Sydney and London scheduled for next year. Financially, the company has received external capital and government support to fuel growth.
