Silecs International develops and produces advanced siloxane polymers used in semiconductor mask-making, fabrication and packaging, as well as in displays and solar applications. The company counts major customers across Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, the US and Europe. Led by CEO Teo Kok Whee, Silecs intends to expand its research, production and customer support capabilities from its traditional base in Espoo, Finland into Asia. It has established a new corporate headquarters in Singapore to support that expansion. Silecs closed a US$16m Series E financing to fund the planned growth and capability buildout. In conjunction with the funding, Ms. Chu Swee Yeok, CEO of EDBI, joined Silecs’ board.

Action Pharma A/S is a Holte, Denmark-based biotech developing novel drug candidates that target melanocortin receptors. Its lead candidate, AP214, is being developed to protect against acute kidney injury in patients undergoing cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. The company focuses on advancing programs to clinical proof of concept for subsequent partnering. It completed a €5m financing round from existing shareholders including Sunstone Capital, Global Life Science Ventures, SLS Invest and InnovationsKapital. The new capital will be used to advance ongoing phase 2a studies and to initiate a phase 2b study of AP214. Interim phase 2a efficacy and safety data were expected by the end of June 2010.

Gammadata Holding AB is an applied physics company based in Uppsala, Sweden, founded in 1986. It operates three business areas: Gammadata Instrument (agency sales in the Nordic region of instruments from well-known brands), Gammadata Sauna Systems (sales, manufacturing and development of instruments that detect nuclear explosions) and VG Scienta (development, manufacturing and sales of instruments for high vacuum and surface physics). The company combines sales, manufacturing and product development of specialized scientific instrumentation. In May 2010 Gammadata received a SEK29.5m majority investment from a syndicate led by InnovationsKapital. As part of the transaction the prior majority owners, CapMan and other shareholders, sold all their shares to the investor group, which now owns 70% while management holds 30%. CEO Jan Edhäll said the company expects InnovationsKapital (InnKap 4 Partners) to support its promising plans and help take Gammadata forward.
