- PARONYM
Participated · Series B · Oct 2020
Paronym builds the Tig series of interactive-video products, including Tig Video, Tig LIVE and Tig Creator, plus planned modules such as Tig AI and Tig Media Platform. Its SaaS editing tools add tags to videos so viewers can access information and commerce directly from objects, people, sounds and places in the footage. The company says deployments have expanded into department stores, apparel and interior-product clients, driving improvements in both e-commerce and in‑store sales. Paronym launched Tig Video in March 2018 and reports a patent portfolio spanning Japan, the U.S., China and Korea. The firm lists headquarters in Chuo‑ku, Tokyo, and was founded in November 2016. Following the recent round, cumulative funding stands at ¥1.45 billion and the company intends to accelerate hiring, last‑mile product development and marketing to support domestic and international growth. Paronym, founded in 2016 and based in Tokyo, develops TIG, a software-as-a-service interactive video platform that lets users retrieve information and tag objects such as persons, places, clothing, and music by touching points on the screen. TIG includes a tracking and editing tool to match objects in clips with link destinations and a heat map tool that shows which parts of a clip users tap. The company offers its B2B platform via monthly subscription or license and provides an enterprise model to integrate TIG into customer apps or websites. Paronym's platform has been adopted by customers including Chukyo TV, NTT Docomo, and The North Face. The firm announced a $6.5M Series B to support geographic expansion, with an initial focus on Thailand. Management has said it aims to first enhance its presence in Thailand and eventually establish the service across Southeast Asia.
- Igloo
Participated · Series A · Apr 2020
Founded in 2016, Igloo develops a technology platform that embeds micro-insurance products into the digital customer journeys of e-commerce, fintech and other online partners. The company operates in eight Southeast Asian markets and has facilitated more than 600 million insurance policies to date. Beyond traditional cover, Igloo has moved into climate-resilience insurance, offering data-driven protection against floods, fires and extreme weather events. It recently formed a joint venture with Thailand’s JMT Network Service to launch a fully digital insurer, a blueprint it intends to replicate in Indonesia and the Philippines. Igloo positions itself as an enabler of affordable, retail-focused insurance, leveraging data and partnerships to widen access. Financially, the startup raised over US$26 million in December 2023 and has accumulated US$79.19 million in equity funding from investors such as Openspace Ventures, Cathay Innovations, Blue Orchard and FinnFund.
- Eventpop
Led · Series A · Sep 2017
Event Pop is a two-year-old Thailand-based digital ticketing startup that helps event organizers with ticketing and marketing. Its platform offers access control, cashless payments, data collection and management, plus monitoring and analytics. The company's mobile app functions as an event-discovery and booking tool, an entry ticket and—where supported—an NFC-powered cashless payments method. To date it has handled over 3,000 events, including gigs, festivals, live shows, sports and business seminars. Financially, Event Pop has completed a Series A of over $2 million and had previously raised $500,000. The company plans to invest in new service areas and pursue expansion into parts of Southeast Asia and East Asia, potentially targeting markets such as Indonesia, and will compete with players like Peatix, EventNook and Eventbrite. Event Pop is a Bangkok-based event management and ticketing startup that combines ticketing with ongoing event campaigns and user engagement tools. The company helps event promoters run continuous campaigns rather than siloed, one-off activities. Founded in 2015, Event Pop says it has managed more than 100,000 ticket sales for over 300 events, which the CEO describes as roughly two percent market share in six months. The team argues incumbent players in Thailand have gone stale and that new technology can disrupt the market. Event Pop is focused on the Thai market for now but plans regional expansion soon with partners in Southeast Asia and Japan. Its recent $500,000 seed raise and existing backers are intended to accelerate growth amid a projected tenfold increase this year.
