  Adsorbi develops a high-performing, cellulose-based material derived from Nordic tree cellulose designed to trap air pollutants including nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), acids and aldehydes. The material is intended for use in air filters, odor-removal products, and museum applications to protect artefacts and works of art. Adsorbi is a research-based spinout from Chalmers University of Technology and positions its product as a low‑fossil alternative for pollutant control. The company plans to construct and operate a pilot production plant in Gothenburg and to use the pilot to scale production and develop new products. Adsorbi also aims to grow its customer base as it commercializes the technology. The company recently secured funding and a grant to support these next steps amid tightening EU air-quality standards. Adsorbi develops a cellulose-based air purification material intended for use in air filters and odour removal products, positioning it as a bio-based alternative to activated carbon. The material’s raw input is sustainably harvested from Nordic forests. The company highlights applications in odour removal for shoes, bags, and cars and in art conservation, with the potential to prolong product lifecycles and improve hygiene. Led by CEO Hanna Johansson, Adsorbi is concentrating on product development and field testing with air filter companies. The company plans to continue studying product application possibilities and to ramp up sales in odour removal and art conservation. Adsorbi is a spinout from Chalmers University of Technology and is based in Gothenburg. It recently completed a seed financing round to support these activities.
