Fello has built a mobile platform that leverages lived experience as a service, letting everyday people (“Fellos”) earn money by providing structured, clinician-backed support to users battling loneliness or specific life challenges. The app launched this fall covering four categories—relationships, parenting, drug use and alcohol use—and plans to expand into additional verticals in 2025. Fellos pass background checks, complete training designed with clinical psychologists, and can earn up to $56 per hour, while a 30-minute video check-in for users costs $40, making it a lower-cost alternative to traditional therapy. Led by former Uber Eats executive Alyssa Pollack, the company applies gig-economy playbooks to mental-health peer support. Founding inspiration came from co-founders Jeff Werring and Pete Kadens’ own recovery journeys, and the leadership team includes veterans of MasterClass, Amazon and Livongo. Public-health data underpin the market need: one-third of U.S. adults report feeling lonely, and peer programs have shown lower mental-health care costs and better outcomes. To date, Fello has raised $10.4 million in seed financing to scale its marketplace nationwide.
