Overview
KDDI Open Innovation Fund is a corporate venture capital fund that will support promising startup companies. Total size of the fund is JPY10 billion. This is the first corporate venture capital fund established by KDDI. The fund will be managed by Global Brain Corporation (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO, Yasuhiko Yurimoto), which has a strong track record in the venture capital business. By combining KDDI’s know-how and assets with Global Brain’s investment and management support capabilities, we will work together to accelerate cooperative activities with promising startup companies. Through this fund, as well as "KDDI ∞ Labo," a startup incubation program currently inviting a second round of applications, we will continue to support the growth of the next startup companies.

Pogoseat is a Los Angeles-based mobile app that lets fans instantly upgrade their seats or purchase in-game experiences at sporting events. Fans can buy upgrades the day of a game or during play through Pogoseat's app or partner apps to move closer to the field. The product enables franchises to capture incremental revenue from otherwise unsold or empty seats while driving loyalty among frequent attendees. Offerings extend beyond seat switches to booking mascot time, placing messages on the big screen, and other on-the-fly experiences. Pogoseat launched with the Golden State Warriors and counts clients including the Sacramento Kings, San Francisco Giants, Anaheim Ducks, Brooklyn Nets, and the Arena Football League. With $2.3M in seed funding, the company plans to expand its technology to more sports franchises and into concerts and other live events.
