AbsoluteCare delivers a whole-person, PCP-led care model called Beyond Medicine™ that combines social determinants of health support, behavioral health, primary and urgent care, and integrated pharmacy. The company focuses on high-acuity Medicaid and Medicare members who average 13 diagnoses, take 10+ medications, and for whom 60% have a behavioral health or substance-use diagnosis. AbsoluteCare reports strong outcomes in its internal 2025 data, including a 34% reduction in emergency department visits, a 20–30% decrease in total cost of care, and 75–80% member engagement after one year. It operates comprehensive care centers in urban communities and extends care through hospital rounding and in-home visits. Headquartered in Columbia, Maryland, AbsoluteCare currently operates in 11 markets including Baltimore, Chicago, multiple Ohio cities, New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. The company says it will continue scaling its concierge, PCP-led model and expand into new markets and member populations. AbsoluteCARE operates a patient-centered ambulatory intensive caring unit delivery model that serves complex, high-utilizing patients and functions as their primary care provider. The company emphasizes integrated primary care plus wrap-around services that address social determinants of health, including past trauma, addiction, food insecurity, and housing instability. AbsoluteCARE currently operates five facilities in Atlanta; Baltimore (2); Prince George’s County, Maryland; and Philadelphia, and since 2000 has treated tens of thousands of high-acuity, chronically ill patients. The business leverages population health management tools and extensive patient outreach to improve outcomes and lower costs for insurance partners. Leadership describes plans to expand interventions that address social determinants of health and to scale their model to serve vulnerable populations more broadly.

Digital Diagnostics is an AI diagnostics company focused on applying autonomous artificial intelligence to medical diagnosis. Its flagship product, IDx-DR, is an FDA De Novo cleared autonomous AI diagnostic system designed to detect diabetic retinopathy, including diabetic macular edema, at the point-of-care. The company raised $75M in a Series B round led by KKR. Proceeds will be used to accelerate the product roadmap, expand the company’s distribution footprint, and invest in sales and marketing. Leadership includes CEO John Bertrand, co-founder/president/COO Seth Rainford, and founder/executive chairman Dr. Michael D. Abramoff. The company is based in Coralville, Iowa and states its mission is to improve the quality, accessibility, equity, and affordability of global health care through technology. IDx develops clinically-aligned autonomous AI diagnostic algorithms that identify disease from medical images, and has an FDA-cleared system to detect diabetic retinopathy without clinician interpretation. The company's IDx-DR enables health care providers who are not normally involved in eye care to test for diabetic retinopathy during routine office visits. In June the solution was initiated into clinical practice at University of Iowa Health Care, marking the first time patients have received a medical diagnosis from an autonomous AI system in the United States. The company is working on implementations at several additional healthcare systems that plan to go live with IDx-DR in 2018. IDx is developing additional AI-based diagnostic systems for macular degeneration, glaucoma, Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular disease and stroke risk. It intends to use the newly raised funds to accelerate market adoption and further develop additional diagnostic systems for its AI platform.
