VideoSelfie is developing a mobile app that lets users record, decorate, edit and share short video selfies with real-time filters, GIFs, music and interactive graphics enabled by face and motion tracking. The product is a pivot from the company's prior app Unda; the team has killed the Unda Android app to focus on VideoSelfie for iOS. The app supports transparent GIFs and PNGs, in-app composition controls (face tracking, size, animation speed), and a built-in community for sharing. The company is a 7-person team based in Tokyo and participated in the 500 Startups accelerator. VideoSelfie plans to monetize via in-app purchases selling additional filters and effects and has suggested licensing its technology to larger companies as another potential revenue avenue. Financially, the company has raised $1.2 million to date and recently closed a $900K seed round from mainly Japanese investors.
