    Bone AI is a Seoul- and Palo Alto-based startup building a unified "physical AI" platform that integrates advanced autonomy software, embedded engineering, hardware design, and large-scale manufacturing. The company’s initial focus is on defense-oriented unmanned aerial vehicles that can handle logistics support, wildfire detection, and anti-drone defense, with plans to extend the same autonomy stack to ground and marine robots. To accelerate go-to-market, Bone AI acquired South Korean drone maker D-Makers and its IP just six months after launch, giving the young venture mature products and immediate revenue. The strategy pairs in-house AI expertise with South Korea’s deep manufacturing base to create an integrated supply chain for smart robotics, which the team hopes to expand to the U.S., Europe, and other allied markets. Bone AI is already commercial, having secured a seven-figure B2G contract and generating $3 million in revenue in its first year. It has also been selected for a government-backed end-to-end logistics program deploying its UAVs and UGVs. Founder DK Lee views the company as filling the gap between Asia’s strong hardware sector and its nascent defense-tech startup scene, aiming to mirror success stories like Anduril and Helsing in other regions.

    Carbonova is a Calgary-based cleantech company that has developed a patented catalytic process to transform greenhouse gases into lightweight, high-value carbon nanofibers (CNF). The resulting material reportedly outperforms carbon black, graphite, and carbon nanotubes on quality, cost, carbon footprint, and ease of integration. Carbonova has already secured commercial traction with Fortune 500 customers across plastics, composites, lithium-ion battery components, and construction materials. To showcase its technology at scale, the company is building a C$13.6 million Commercial Demonstration Unit (CDU-25) designed to produce 25 tonnes of CNF per year, with commissioning targeted for mid-2027. The firm recently closed an oversubscribed C$5.1 million equity financing round and earlier received a $4.38 million grant from Emissions Reduction Alberta to support the project. Following the CDU, Carbonova plans to commission a full-scale plant and deploy modular, licensed units worldwide to meet growing demand for sustainable, carbon-negative materials.
