  Billy was founded in 2020 as a pandemic project by Nyasha Gutsa and Grant Robbins to address rising risk and friction in construction insurance and compliance. The company offers a SaaS platform that collects, verifies, and tracks compliance documents (licenses, W9s) for general contractors, developers, and property managers. Billy also leverages the platform data to operate a marketplace and licensed digital broker representing more than 30 insurance carriers. Its technology has been used on high-speed rail projects as well as residential buildings and homes, and the company recently closed a deal to provide services to construction software provider Procore. Billy plans to use new funding to accelerate sales and improve customer retention. The founders draw on Gutsa’s construction product management and Procore experience and Robbins’ decade running a construction business. Billy is an NYC-based insurance and risk management software platform that connects construction companies and insurance companies to manage third-party liability. The platform provides end-to-end tools for construction firms to manage their insurance needs. Co-founded by Nyasha Gutsa and Grant Robbins, the company combines software and insurance expertise. Gutsa has 12 years of experience building construction and property technology and has led software teams at Procore, WeWork, and Occupier; Robbins brings 25 years of construction domain expertise. The team also includes VP of Insurance Amit Kalra, who previously served as lead underwriter at Attune Insurance and has more than 10 years of insurance experience. Billy plans to use new funding to hire talent, scale adoption of its insurance management platform, and broaden the platform’s technical capabilities.
