Väcka produces vegan cheeses that substitute fermented melon seed milk for almond milk and use extra virgin olive oil instead of coconut oil, reducing water use and saturated fat. Its products combine ingredients such as oats and beans to boost nutrition and improve melting performance. Two SKUs, Mözza and Pumpkin Chxddar, have already been reformulated with these ingredients, and the company plans to update Vrie and Filä similarly. Väcka closed the past year with €285,000 in turnover and recorded nearly a 300% sales increase; it expects turnover to reach €1.5 million in 2023. The company is investing in R&D to improve product texture, behaviour, elasticity, and the environmental impact of production. It also plans international expansion and a target of reaching 3,000 points of sale using the new funding.
