Overview
LG Display is a manufacturer of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, OLEDs and flexible displays. The company began development of TFT-LCD in 1987 and now provides display panels in a wide range of sizes and specifications applying the various cutting-edge technologies such as AH-IPS, FPR 3D, OLED, and Flexible. LG Display currently operates nine fabrication facilities and seven back-end assembly facilities in Korea, China, Poland, and Mexico. In addition, it operates the global network of sales subsidiaries to efficiently service the local markets. As of the end of 2013, 52,000 employees work for LG Display worldwide.

CYNORA develops Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence (TADF) emitter materials for next‑generation OLED displays, with a proprietary ultra‑high‑efficiency blue emitter solution now nearing commercialization. Its TADF technology aims to dramatically improve blue‑emitter efficiency, potentially cutting power consumption by up to 50% and reducing manufacturing costs. The company plans to use new funding to build a worldwide infrastructure to support production, sales and support of its materials. CYNORA was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in Bruchsal, Germany. Adam Kablanian was named CEO as part of the current funding round, succeeding Gildas Sorin, and Dan Rubin of SRF joined the board. The company has raised US$80M since inception and presented TADF developments at Display Week. Cynora develops thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) organic emitter materials, focusing on a high‑efficiency blue OLED material. The company aims to commercialize its first blue product by the end of this year and to develop green and red materials by 2019. Cynora says its materials can increase lifespan and efficiency of OLED displays while avoiding heavy metals, which could reduce power consumption and enable higher-resolution screens. It was founded in Bruchsal, Germany in 2008. The business recently received a €25 million investment from major OLED players Samsung and LG to support commercialization and expand its worldwide presence. Cynora plans to work closely with display manufacturers, including LG and Samsung, as it brings its materials to market.

Kyulux is a Fukuoka-based OLED materials startup that exclusively licenses Hyperfluorescence technology invented at Kyushu University. The company develops thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) and Hyperfluorescence emitters aimed at enabling fully efficient blue emission for OLED displays. Kyulux says its technology can improve emitter efficiency and has already seen commercial use: WiseChip launched a display using Kyulux’s hyperfluorescent yellow emitter in late 2019. The company plans to accelerate OLED R&D, expand its IP portfolio, and support mass production of hyperfluorescent OLEDs by 2025. At Display Week 2022 Kyulux reported green materials would enter pilot testing in Q3’22 with smartphone mass production targeted in H2 2023, and red following in early 2024 with production by end of 2024. Kyulux develops and sells TADF and Hyperfluorescence-based OLED materials and solutions to manufacturers in the display and lighting industries. The company was co-founded in 2015 by Prof. Chihaya Adachi (inventor of TADF), Junji Adachi (CTO) and Dr. Christopher Savoie (CEO) and is based in Fukuoka, Japan. Kyulux owns or has exclusive or co-exclusive rights to a large TADF intellectual property portfolio developed over the past seven years at Kyushu University and industrial partners. Kyushu University announced the transfer of a large portfolio of TADF-related patents and took equity participation in the financing. The company intends to use the Series A proceeds to further develop TADF technology into the new standard for OLED displays and lighting.
