Abridge builds AI scribe technology that automates medical notes and integrates with Epic Systems. The company says its technology is used by over 150 of the largest U.S. health systems. In Q1 Abridge reported $117 million in contracted annual recurring revenue (a metric that includes signed recurring contracts, including customers not yet onboarded). It is expanding into converting medical notes from patient appointments into AI-powered medical codes, a move that positions it against startups like CodaMetrix and features from Epic. Abridge is widely considered a leader in the AI-powered medical scribe market due to early entry and Epic integration. The company was founded by cardiologist Shiv Rao and is seven years old. Abridge provides an enterprise-grade generative AI platform that transforms medical conversations into clinically useful and billable documentation at the point of care. The platform maps AI-generated summaries to source data using Linked Evidence to make outputs auditable and verifiable.
