Overview

1986 marked the arrival of the Luxasia Group, and their foray into the beauty industry. They focus on their customers first. Besides their diverse and trusted Principals: Beiersdorf, Burberry, Clarins, Ferragamo and Shiseido Group, just to name a few, they also have joint ventures with the Coty Group, the LVMH Group, the PUIG Group and Elizabeth Arden. Together, they extend their reach to Asian consumers. They select and bring only world class beauty brands to Asia. Their teams in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar lend their deep local expertise, which allow us to marry the local nuances with global perspectives. In addition to that, they provide worldclass backoffice and logistics services to enable fast market entries and sustainable growth. Established at the forefront of the beauty realm, they know what it takes to be inspired. But more than that, they are in the art of constantly re-inventing ourselves; to create truly unforgettable experiences for their customers and partners.

Vanitee operates a marketplace that connects beauty practitioners with customers for services such as manicures, makeup and hair, enabling professionals to take bookings and offer at-home or independent services. The company officially launched in Singapore in May and has served nearly 5,000 customers, with over 550 independent beauty professionals on the platform and more than 1,000 applicants undergoing verification. Vanitee emerged from the team behind Vanity Trove and an idea developed at a PayPal hackathon; Douglas Gan is a co-founder. The startup is adding product features including an in-service CRM tool for professionals. It is pursuing regional expansion, targeting Malaysia in Q1 2016 and planning moves into Japan (leveraging investor @cosme), Korea (via the acquired Blucarrott team), and potentially Hong Kong and Taiwan. Vanitee has prioritized corporate strategic investors over traditional VCs to tap regional expertise.
