C Channel publishes professionally shot and edited one-minute videos covering fashion, food, travel, and pop culture aimed at young women in their teens to thirties. The service is currently online-only, with an app planned for release this summer and some English-language videos forthcoming. The company intends to monetize through advertising and by selling C Channel–branded content to other companies. Akira Morikawa, the former CEO of Line, leads the company and draws on prior broadcasting experience. Morikawa also remains an advisor to Line, which may create collaboration opportunities as Line builds out video services. The startup announced its official launch alongside its initial funding.
