PhageTech, Inc. is a development-stage medical diagnostics company based in Irvine, CA that is building biosensors that use a bacteriophage substrate to detect analytes in urine, blood, and other body fluids. The core product, the PhageTech Biosensor™, was originally developed at the University of California, Irvine with NIH grant support. When paired with a portable reader, the sensor aims to deliver near-patient test results in under one minute, giving physicians real-time data for earlier diagnosis and improved treatment outcomes. The technology targets early detection of cancers as well as a broad range of other diseases. Current efforts are focused on completing product development and securing FDA clearance. Richard Henson serves as CEO, and the company remains pre-commercial with no disclosed revenue or user metrics. The recent capital infusion will fund final engineering, regulatory submissions, and preparation for market entry.
