Overview

Social problems need entrepreneurs with big, bold, game-changing solutions. But the early stages are tough. The problem is daunting, funding is scarce, and the journey is lonely. Such entrepreneurs need a special kind of support. An investor who understands the problem well. One who is patient, because deep-rooted problems take time to solve. Who does more than just provide funding. Who is willing to take the same risks you take. We are that kind of investor. We are different from other investors because we actively seek out entrepreneurs at the early stages of developing their ideas. Don't have a product yet, or haven't started generating revenues? Don't have a complete management team yet? Don't worry, we'll work with you to achieve those milestones. To be good at what you do, you have to have focus and hone your expertise. Menterra therefore focuses on the following four sectors. We are, however, open to exceptional entrepreneurs with transformative ideas that are outside these focus areas.

  • iDream Career

    Led · Equity · Apr 2022

iDreamCareer (iDC) offers a personalized, one-stop career navigation and counselling platform aimed at helping students make informed education and career choices. The company targets a large unmet need in India, where the article notes 93% of schools lack counsellors and many students rely on peers and family for guidance. Over the past 10 years iDC says it has partnered with multilateral organizations, government agencies and corporates to deliver counselling to more than 20 million students. The company highlights that 85% of its career counsellors are women and operates a B2C offering intended to improve access for girls and less privileged students. iDC will deploy the new funds to add a one-stop university application capability, scholarship and financing features, expand its leadership team, and implement advanced technology interventions alongside its counselling program. The raise is presented as growth capital to widen and deepen the impact of its services.

  • Aibono

    Led · Equity · Mar 2019

Aibono is an AI-driven platform that supplies small-scale farmers with sensors and analytic software to predict harvest volumes 60–90 days in advance and help sync supply with retailer demand in real time. The platform processes food consumption data and works with both farmers and retailers to optimize sourcing, transport and pricing, aiming to reduce post-harvest losses. The company targets higher price realization for farmers while reducing inconsistent supply of fresh produce to consumers. Aibono was founded in 2014 by IIT Madras graduate Vivek Rajkumar and operates out of India with plans to expand further in South India and into additional Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities. The business aims to scale its network to 2,000 farmers and 1,000 retailers using the newly raised capital. Financially, the company completed an early-stage seed raise to support this strategic growth.
