  • nPloy

    Led · Equity · Nov 2023

nPloy is a Bulgarian HR tech company, founded in 2019, that provides a mobile app which matches jobseekers and employers via swipe-based interactions and algorithmic filtering. Users set their requirements and the platform shows only positions or candidates suitable for their experience and preferences. The app includes social features such as discussion clubs and event sections for workshops and seminars to engage users around professional interests. nPloy expanded into the Romanian market after a €2M round last year and reports strong growth expectations there. The company recently received a €1.8M follow-on investment to continue product and tech development. Management expects substantial candidate-base growth (over 300% in Bulgaria and tenfold in Romania) and plans further market expansion and technological innovations. nPloy, founded in 2018 and based in Sofia, offers a recruitment platform that directly matches and connects candidates and employers using a dating-app model. Its AI algorithm matches talent with companies based on mutual expectations and requirements, replacing standard pre-screening. The product allows companies to apply to candidates, and when there is mutual interest a chat opens and a video interview can be scheduled. The platform reports over 85,000 users and more than 500 employer customers, including BIC, SAP, Lidl and Postbank. nPloy raised €2 million to streamline its product and support international growth. The company plans to expand into Central and Eastern Europe and aims to be active in about 10 more countries by the end of 2023.

  • Nasekomo

    Participated · Equity · Jul 2020

Nasekomo develops insect bioconversion technology that rears Black Soldier Flies (BSF) to produce protein, oil, and fertiliser for feed and agriculture. The company integrates AI, robotics and digitalised solutions to optimise larvae growth, processing and operations. It has a joint venture, Fly Genetics, with Groupe Grimaud to supply genetically selected seed larvae and enable industrial-scale premium insect protein. Nasekomo operates an industrial demonstration centre near Sofia and plans a second Bulgarian production base in 2025 with a local entrepreneur. The company intends to roll out a network of franchised insect bioconversion factories across Europe and expand to other continents. Its model emphasises circular-economy practices to reduce food waste, greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on external protein supplies. Nasekomo develops scalable insect-rearing technology that converts organic agro-industrial waste into protein and oil for fish, poultry, pigs and pet food using specially bred Black Soldier flies. The company combines robotics, AI and big data with selective breeding to improve production efficiency and is producing about 500 tons of protein per year. It has launched a demo production facility, secured first clients across Europe (including Germany, Spain and France), and filed one EU patent with two more underway. Nasekomo employs around 30 people and is building its first industrial-scale facility in Bulgaria to meet a pipeline of waiting clients. Future plans include scaling production, deploying further robotization and data analytics, launching a selective breeding program, exploring licensing/franchising, and testing new products such as insect oil for potential animal-health uses. The company says it will need an additional €15M this year or next to finance its ambitious expansion.
