  • HomeX

    Led · Equity · Apr 2021

HomeX operates a platform that connects homeowners and service providers both virtually and in person, and provides software tools for contractors to drive and manage demand. Its HomeX Remote Assist product connects homeowners via phone, video, or chat with licensed technicians to diagnose and resolve common home issues. The company uses AI to diagnose problems before dispatching technicians so contractors arrive prepared and repairs complete faster. Remote Assist grew more than 400% in less than a year, and HomeX grew about 5x the number of contractors on its platform last year; in the past 12 months it served “hundreds of thousands” of clients via virtual and physical appointments. HomeX is not profitable overall but the services side of the business is profitable. The company is allocating capital toward a pilot program and B2B business development with home warranty and insurance partners.

  • Sensely

    Participated · Equity · Oct 2019

Sensely is a London and San Francisco–based provider of a digital health and insurtech platform that uses avatar and chatbot interfaces. Its multi-lingual AI platform features a voice-enabled character interface and integrates into existing enterprise technology infrastructure. Led by Adam Odessky, CEO and co-founder, Sensely assists insurance plan members and patients with insurance services and healthcare resources. The platform is deployed with enterprise customers in the United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Switzerland, and Australia. Customers use the platform for symptom checking, insurance underwriting, claims management, medication management, and remote patient monitoring. Sensely raised $15M and intends to use the funds to accelerate commercialization efforts and extend its platform leadership. Sense.ly is a San Francisco startup that offers a virtual nurse app enabling physicians to stay in touch with patients and help prevent hospital readmissions. The app uses a nurse avatar to perform 5-minute check-ins via voice, rolling patient responses into medical records accessible to authorized providers and ingesting data from medical devices and wearables. Its platform integrates AI technologies from MindMeld, Beyond Verbal, Affectiva and others to respond to patients’ moods and provide empathetic interactions, as well as to surface mental-health signals to clinicians. Sense.ly’s core engine is rule-based and built around commonly accepted medical protocols for chronic diseases, with content and protocols added from partner hospitals and clinics. The company has focused on engaging patients aged 60 and older with conditions like COPD, heart failure and diabetes, while expanding partnerships with large providers including the U.K. National Health Service and major U.S. clinics and hospitals. CEO and founder Adam Odessky says the technology is intended to augment clinicians’ capabilities rather than replace nurses. Sense.ly provides a mobile-first virtual nurse, Molly, that engages patients via natural conversation for administrative needs and complex chronic conditions. Patients can take vitals, report on pain, sleep, stress and diet, and be connected to an attending physician via video call when risks are elevated. The platform focuses on patient engagement and remote chronic disease monitoring. Customers and partners include the National Health Service of the UK, Dudley CCG, Novartis and UCSF. Led by co-founder and CEO Adam Odessky, the company plans to use new funding to launch new markets, expand support for its global customer base, and enhance its product with artificial intelligence and machine learning. Financially, Sense.ly announced a $2.2M Series A raise to support those initiatives. Sense.ly delivers a SaaS patient-engagement platform combining advanced sensor capabilities with avatar-based technology to produce actionable, real-time data and intelligent analytics for clinicians. The platform is positioned to help clinicians monitor and engage patients while optimizing workflow. Sense.ly was co-founded by Adam Odessky (CEO) and Ivana Schnur, MD/PhD (CMO), and was incubated within Orange SA before launching independently in 2013. The company is a member of the LaunchPad Digital Health accelerator and previously graduated from the Alchemist Accelerator. Sense.ly plans to use new funding to continue building out products, expand the team, and broaden its customer base. It recently completed a seed financing round to support these initiatives.
