- GoHealth
Led · Equity · Jun 2012
GoHealth, founded in 2001 and based in Chicago, provides direct-to-consumer sales, marketing and customer service solutions for health insurance providers. Its online platform leverages prospect generation expertise, proprietary algorithms, business analytics, and deep technology integrations to connect consumers with carriers across Medicare, Individual & Family, and Small Group markets. The platform helps carriers lower marketing spend and improve customer acquisition and retention. Founders Brandon Cruz and Clint Jones will continue to lead the business and retain an ownership stake following the transaction. GoHealth received an investment from Centerbridge Partners, with financial terms undisclosed and an expected close in the fourth quarter of 2019. The company said the proceeds will improve its balance sheet, support further investment in technology and innovation, and deepen market penetration. GoHealth operates GoHealthInsurance.com, an online portal that lets consumers enter basic details (DOB, gender, zip and smoking status) to view personalized health plan options, compare up to four plans side-by-side, and complete purchases online or through a licensed agent. The platform connects with more than 100 insurance carriers and a network of about 10,000 licensed agents to facilitate plan selection and enrollment. To date the site has seen over 30 million Americans shop for and purchase coverage and averages roughly one million customers per month. The company built an end-to-end shopping experience that includes plan comparison, filtering by deductibles/premiums/carriers, and agent or customer-service support for application assistance. With the new funding GoHealth plans to add to its current ~125 employees, expand its agent bullpen, and ramp up marketing to accelerate growth. The product is positioned to benefit from changes to U.S. health policy that could enlarge the consumer insurance market.
