  • Breadfast

    Participated · Series C · Feb 2026

Founded in 2017, Breadfast began as a fresh bread delivery service and has evolved into a full-stack online grocery platform offering groceries, ready meals, pharmaceuticals, and even fintech services such as prepaid and payment solutions. The company controls the entire value chain—from sourcing and production to fulfillment and last-mile delivery—allowing it to protect margins and maintain consistent service quality. Roughly 40% of grocery sales come from its private-label products, underscoring a strategy to boost profitability. Breadfast aims to capture up to 3% of Egypt’s USD 100 billion grocery market within three years while targeting young, urban consumers who value speed and convenience. Management is also studying expansion into North and West Africa to replicate its model in similar demographic markets. Looking ahead, Breadfast plans a larger Series C in 1H 2026 and ultimately a global IPO. The new funding strengthens its infrastructure and operational capacity needed for this regional push and long-term listing ambition.

  • MAX

    Participated · Equity · Jan 2026

MAX operates a full-stack electric mobility and fintech business that supplies electric two- and three-wheelers to commercial drivers—called "Champions"—through a Pay-As-You-Go (PAYGO) financing model. The company combines vehicle sales/financing, battery-swapping stations, and proprietary IoT-enabled fleet management software to monitor vehicle health and driver payments. MAX assembles locally with production capacity of about 3,600 units per month and reports profitability in Nigeria. It is pursuing expansion into Ghana and Cameroon and aims to reach 250,000 drivers by 2027. To fund growth of its capital-intensive fleet and infrastructure, MAX is adopting an asset-backed lending structure and has begun attracting institutional debt such as the $8M facility from Triple Jump, following a prior $24M mixed equity and debt round that included Equitane DMCC and Novastar. The company faces regional competitors like Spiro and Ampersand but emphasizes deep integration of finance, hardware, and software as its differentiator.

  • Chowdeck

    Led · Series A · Aug 2025

Chowdeck operates a food and grocery delivery platform that serves local meals and international cuisines across 11 cities in Nigeria and Ghana. The company claims 1.5 million customers and a network of more than 20,000 riders, with an average logistics time of about 30 minutes and over half of deliveries by bicycle in dense areas. Chowdeck has been profitable since before this raise and says the value of meals delivered grew more than sixfold in 2024, with 2025 volume already surpassing last year’s total before July. The startup is rolling out a quick-commerce strategy supported by dark stores and hyperlocal logistics hubs, planning 40 dark stores by year-end and 500 by end of 2026 (launching two to three stores per week). Chowdeck acquired Mira, a point-of-sale provider, to add vertical SaaS capabilities and optimize operations, positioning itself as a SaaS-plus-logistics provider for restaurants. The company also plans to expand into more cities in Nigeria and Ghana and aims to significantly grow daily order volumes in its newer markets. Chowdeck, founded by Femi Aluko, Olumide Ojo and Lanre Yusuf, operates a multi-vertical delivery platform for prepared meals, supermarkets/groceries and pharmacies. The company launched its first product in October 2021 and now operates across eight cities with more than 3,000 riders and over 500,000 users, including over 100,000 monthly active users. Its logistics use geotagging, multiple vehicle types, vendor acceptance windows and automated rider-customer matching, with strict vendor and rider performance rules to keep delivery times fast. Chowdeck reported annual GMV across verticals of over ₦7 billion, and noted it crossed ₦1 billion in October before reaching ₦2.4 billion by March 2024; Lagos generates about 80% of volumes. With a take rate of 24%, the company says revenues (from vendor commissions, service fees, surge charges and delivery fees) grew 1,200% between 2022 and 2023. Chowdeck emphasizes sound unit economics over heavy discounts and plans to use new capital to boost operational efficiency, expand to more Nigerian cities, and improve experiences for customers, vendors and riders.

  • BasiGo

    Led · Equity · Nov 2022

BasiGo supplies state-of-the-art electric buses to public transport operators in Kenya and Rwanda and couples the vehicles with charging, maintenance, and a Pay-As-You-Drive battery financing model that separates battery costs from vehicle ownership. The company already has 100 electric buses on the road across the two countries and operates the associated charging infrastructure. By assembling the buses locally, BasiGo aims to keep costs low while creating local jobs. Management plans to scale local assembly, widen its charging network, and grow the fleet to 1,000 buses as it enters additional African cities. The model is positioned to deliver lower operating costs for bus owners, reduced CO₂ emissions, and an improved passenger experience. BasiGo raised a US$41.5 million Series A in late 2023 and has now attracted additional capital from Proparco to fund its next growth phase.

  • MoKo Home + Living

    Participated · Series B · Oct 2022

MoKo Home + Living produces and sells home furniture — best known for its MoKo mattress — across digital and offline channels. The company has invested in automated woodworking equipment and recycling technology to improve precision, cut waste and scale production. MoKo says it has grown five-fold over the past three years and its products are in more than 370,000 homes in Kenya. It plans to expand its product line to cover major household furniture (bed frames, TV stands, coffee tables, carpets) and develop more affordable sofas and mattresses. The funding will be used to scale production, buy more equipment, grow online channels and deepen partnerships with retail outlets. MoKo targets entry into three new markets by 2025 and emphasizes climate-friendly local production as a commercial advantage.
