FPF Defense builds the Hammerhead kinetic interceptor and an end-to-end air defense suite called SmartFlak. Hammerhead is a small, winged, fire-and-forget interceptor about three feet long by two feet wide, using mostly COTS components, electro-optical sensors, and in-house autonomy for beyond-line-of-sight engagements in the 5–20 km range. The company reports unit cost of roughly $30K in current builds and $15–20K at full-rate production. FPF demonstrated performance at Camp Atterbury, where Hammerhead struck two of three Shahed-like targets during a demo, and is working with OUSW-R&E under the T-Rex program. The team of about 20 is led by founder Chris Miller with co-founders Dr. Jeff Maas (CTO) and Grant Fox (COO). With the recent $10M strategic investment, the company has runway to advance low-rate production with UAV Solutions in Baltimore and pursue planned scale-up to high-rate production by the end of 2027.

Firestorm develops xCell, a shipping-container mobile manufacturing platform that uses an industrial-grade HP 3D printer to produce drone bodies and shells and assemble configurable drone systems in under 24 hours. The company sells hardware and secures government contracts across U.S. military branches, and currently has two xCell units deployed domestically (with the Air Force Research Laboratory and Air Force Special Operations Command) and additional operational use in the Indo-Pacific. Firestorm holds a five-year global exclusive with HP for use of its industrial 3D printing technology in mobile units, and noted an Air Force contract with a $100 million ceiling and $27 million obligated to date. The startup’s founders bring defense and additive-manufacturing expertise: CEO Dan Magy is a serial defense tech entrepreneur, Chad McCoy is a career special operations veteran, and CTO Ian Muceus holds multiple 3D-printing patents. Firestorm has stated plans to scale deployment and reach full operational deployment in the Indo-Pacific within roughly two years. The company has raised $153 million to date following the Series B.

Performance Drone Works (PDW) develops multi-mission aerial robotic systems and operates integrated manufacturing and testing capabilities. PDW combines engineering, flight testing, systems integration, production and fulfillment at Drone Factory 01, its 90,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Huntsville, Alabama. The company plans to produce domestic components such as propulsion systems, power and control technologies and vision systems and to supply those components to other U.S. manufacturers. PDW aims to strengthen domestic supply chains for unmanned systems and reduce dependence on foreign-controlled components. The company expects the scale-up to initially meet defense requirements and potentially expand into public safety, industrial and commercial markets. Financially, PDW has a conditional loan commitment of up to $820 million from the U.S. Department of War’s Office of Strategic Capital and plans to combine that government financing with additional private capital; the commitment is subject to further due diligence and closing conditions.
