Priceonomics operates a smart, curated catalog that identifies items and crawls the web for second‑hand prices, then provides a suggested price, an acceptable range, and price history. The site links users to marketplaces like eBay and Craigslist where the items are listed. The startup says it is focused on second‑hand goods for now, with indexing of first‑hand products “on our radar.” Priceonomics reported 250,000 page views in March and traffic growing roughly 65% month over month. The announced seed funding will be used to hire front‑end and back‑end engineers and to beef up its machine‑learning technology. Investors see opportunities to build business models around the data Priceonomics crawls and showing ads to users about to make a purchase.
