HaikuJam is a U.K. startup that began in 2013 as an app for collaboratively writing haiku but has retooled its product toward visual and social collaboration. HaikuJam v2 is exiting beta and launching on iOS and Android, introducing collaborative social photo-sharing and three-image “visual haiku” collages while still supporting written lines. Pictures can fully replace words and the team plans to add other rich media collaboration such as video and audio in future. The app uses in‑app Karma points as an engagement currency and emphasizes quick, low‑effort creative expression. Reported power users are not poets but time‑poor professionals (investment bankers, nurses, doctors, students) using the app for escapism and stress relief. The team has intentionally kept usage low while sculpting a product it believes can scale; active users were around 500 with roughly 2,000 total downloads.
