Quill is a London-based cloud-based platform that connects freelance content creators with brands seeking written and visual content. The company was founded by Ed Bussey and says it uses technology to enable a global talent marketplace that can produce high-quality content at speed and scale for fast-growth ecommerce companies. Today Quill announced it has raised a total of £10 million in its latest investment from Smedvig Capital and Panoramic Growth Equity. The new funds will be used to further develop its freelance platform and to expand operations in the US and Europe. Previous investors named in the article include Dan'Hewitt (a VP at Walt Disney), Shakil Khan (former head of projects at Spotify), and Jonathan Pfitzner of Secret Escapes. The announcement does not provide operating metrics such as revenue or user numbers. Quill provides businesses with a platform to create content on any topic, in any format and any language to help reach, acquire and retain customers. The company is led by Founder and CEO Ed Bussey. Its platform manages a global network of over 2,000 specialist content creators across 17 countries, including writers, editors, designers, photographers and video producers. Current clients include major advertising groups WPP, Aegis and Publicis, and brands such as Shop Direct Group, LA Fitness, STA Travel, Reckitt Benckiser and 888.com. Quill closed a £5m (US$8.5m) funding round and intends to use the proceeds to continue international growth and expand service presence into China, Germany and the US. With the investment, lead investor Smedvig Capital will join Quill’s board. Quill is a content-creation platform that delivers web-optimized content on any topic and in any language. Its technology platform manages workflow and quality assurance for a global network of writers, editors and video producers across more than 30 languages. The company offers content strategy, video, infographics, customized news feeds, and content distribution services including blogger outreach, automated social publishing and article syndication. Customers include Shop Direct Group, Swiftcover/AXA, WPP and Aegis. Founded in 2011 by Ed Bussey and based in London, Quill raised £1M (approximately US$1.5M). The company intends to use the funds to grow its management team in the UK and abroad, expand its specialist multilingual writer and editor base, and accelerate the global roll-out of its technology platform.

Its proprietary semantic engine processes more than 40 billion monthly search events and connects real-time searches from over 2 billion devices globally, and the company says it is the largest independent processor of search data outside Google. Captify offers a cookieless, search-powered solution that delivers high-intent, granular audiences and insights without reliance on third-party cookies. The platform is used by more than 800 leading brands and is a partner to all six major media agency holding groups; notable clients include Disney, Unilever, eBay, Mercedes-Benz, Microsoft, Nestle, GSK, Uber, Mars, P&G, Sony and Toyota. Captify recently launched a self-serve platform and describes a very strong historical annual growth rate, positioning it for further global expansion. The business emphasizes a privacy-first approach and supports the open web while serving advertisers, publishers, and consumers. Captify focuses on search retargeting and has built a large independent search data network covering 550 million unique users globally and billions of searches. Its proprietary technology is used to engage consumers at the point of intent and it runs campaigns for major brands including Microsoft, British Airways, Barclays, Warner Brothers, SKY, BMW, Hilton and American Express. The company works with over 88 media agencies in the UK and more than 100 in Europe. Captify has expanded headcount from 11 to 65 and opened offices in Hamburg and Kiev, with a third office planned to open in Paris. Management is led by co‑founders Dominic Joseph (CEO) and Adam Ludwin (CVO). The company expects to achieve revenues of over £15m this year and plans to use new funding to invest in its search intelligence technology, expand its product suite and accelerate international expansion.

Concorde Solutions, founded in 2007, sells Core Control, a SaaS software compliance and analytics tool that audits software licenses across multiple IT platforms and provides detailed analytics to improve process efficiency and cost control. The product targets businesses that need centralized license auditing and cost-management insights. Concorde announced a $2.5m investment led by private equity firm JMI Services with participation from previous investors Panoramic Growth Equity and Elderstreet. The company said the funds will be used to further develop its product suite, expand geographic coverage, and support a sales drive. As part of the deal, experienced tech investor Charles Noell will join Concorde's board. Panoramic Growth Equity indicated it will continue to support Concorde through board involvement as the company broadens its operations. Concorde Solutions is a software asset management firm that developed ComplianceConsole, a custom-built SaaS product designed to deliver software compliance across multiple vendors and identify tangible cost savings. The product supports the company’s consultancy and managed services, providing a solution to manage contractual and financial issues tied to software licensing and vendor subscriptions. Customers include members of the Global Fortune 1000, investment banks, mid-market companies, public sector organisations and charities. The company was established in 2007 by Managing Director Martin Prendergast and Services Director Phil Merson and is based in Reading, UK. Concorde plans to use new capital to launch a new SaaS product in 2012 targeting the data centre and cloud computing markets and to expand its professional and managed services worldwide. The company recently raised funding to support these product and expansion plans.
