PointGrab is a London-based machine learning and computer vision PropTech company led by CEO Doron Shachar. It provides a Smart Sensing Platform and smart sensors for building automation and facilities management customers. The platform tracks staff to keep workplaces COVID-safe and offers distancing alerts, cleaning capabilities and smart analytics. PointGrab aims to help workplaces reopen by monitoring occupancy and enforcing social distancing. In May 2021 the company raised £3.4M in funding led by EMV Capital, with ABB Ventures, Signify and various family offices participating, and plans to use the proceeds to accelerate rollout of its platform. The article does not provide operating metrics or specify the funding instrument. PointGrab develops CogniPoint™, an edge-analytics smart sensing solution that delivers occupant activity analytics for building space management. The solution embeds deep‑learning neural networks into cost‑effective, miniature connected optical sensors to detect occupant location, counts, and movements. Those analytics are designed to improve energy efficiency, optimize space utilization, and enhance safety and security. PointGrab says CogniPoint has been installed in numerous customer sites as part of collaboration projects. The company planned commercial availability of CogniPoint in early 2017. PointGrab is described as fast growing and is supported by partners including ABB, Philips Lighting, and EcoMachines Ventures. The business recently secured additional strategic capital to support its sensor technology. PointGrab develops optical sensing IoT devices that embed deep learning and object-tracking IP to provide detailed information about activity within buildings. Its products target energy-saving, facility management, occupant comfort and safety, security and access control, and business intelligence use cases. The company cites demand from HVAC and lighting control vendors and positions its technology for intelligent real-life video analytics. PointGrab reports an installed base of more than 27,000,000 installations on devices from Samsung, Lenovo, Fujitsu, Acer and others. The company is expanding into the $30 billion home and building-automation market. PointGrab’s leadership includes founders Saar Wilf, Haim Perski and Amir Kaplan and it is supported by strategic investors such as ABB and EcoMachines Ventures.
