  • Nextail

    Participated · Equity · Sep 2016

Nextail has developed a cloud-based platform that combines artificial intelligence and prescriptive analytics to upgrade retailers’ inventory management processes and store operations. The company is continuously enhancing its product offering through technological innovation and advanced analytics. Founded in 2014 by Joaquín Villalba and Carlos Miragall, Nextail serves fashion and collection-based retailers including Pepe Jeans, Stefanel and Melon Fashion Group. It operates offices in Spain, Italy, Russia, the UK and the USA as it expands internationally. In June 2018 Nextail closed a $10M Series A and intends to use the funds to accelerate product development and double the size of the team. The company focuses on improving store operations and inventory planning for fashion retailers. Nextail offers a Software-as-a-Service that applies machine learning and AI (including image-recognition algorithms) to optimize daily inventory allocation and replenishment for physical retailers. Its technology aims to increase sell-through at full price and reduce markdowns by placing products in stores where they will sell fastest. Typical customers are fashion retailers with 100–1,000 stores, and the SaaS is currently operating in Spain, Italy, France and Russia, with plans to expand to the UK next year. Founded in 2014 by Joaquín Villalba and Carlos Miragall, Nextail says its product increases revenues and reduces inventories through fast-fashion optimization algorithms, massive cloud computation, and collaborative decision-making. The company reports that clients see higher full-price sales and reduced inventory levels. Financially, Nextail has closed a $1.6M funding round that brings total funding to $2M and will use the new financing to accelerate product development and expand sales and marketing.
