- Dellwood Insurance
Participated · Equity · Mar 2024
Dellwood Insurance Group launched as a new entrant in the US excess and surplus (E&S) insurance market with $250m in financial backing. The firm was founded by former AIG executives Michael Price (CEO) and Kean Driscoll (president and CUO) and targets wholesale brokers serving the SME commercial segment. Dellwood says it will offer a full suite of insurance products for SME commercial customers and build a purpose-built underwriting platform. The company plans early investment in technology to streamline underwriting and claims, drive operating efficiencies, and deliver service to broker partners. Its formation is supported by a consortium of reinsurers and individual investors and comes as the E&S market has roughly doubled in size since 2018 amid increased catastrophic activity and inflationary pressures. Dominic Addesso will assume the role of non-executive chairman.
- Pricelock
Participated · Series B · Mar 2011
Pricelock provides online fuel hedging and price-protection services to businesses that rely on fuel. The company aggregates demand to enable small and medium-sized businesses across the United States to access fuel-cost controls previously available only to large buyers. Pricelock operates an online platform where businesses can purchase price protection to manage exposure to rising fuel costs. The company aims to expand access to hedging tools for SMBs nationwide. Pricelock recently strengthened its financial position with a fresh financing round amid volatile oil markets. CEO Robert Fell said the funding is timely given current oil-market volatility.
