  • Snackclub

    Participated · Seed · Apr 2022

Snackclub secured $9M in seed funding to launch a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) aimed at reimagining ownership in gaming. The company plans to source, educate, and build a community of active gamers by mobilizing LOUD’s combined audience of 300M+ followers across social platforms. Snackclub will focus on content and media aligned with LOUD’s gaming lifestyle brand while introducing new games, currencies, and developers to the community. Over time users will inform strategic decisions about which game concepts to lift and the mechanics behind each game’s economy, and once titles launch Snackclub expects to mobilize audiences to populate games and mine for high-liquidity assets. Current priorities include nurturing its 30-person team, establishing governance, cementing its investment thesis, and conducting due diligence on priority investment prospects. The DAO intends to operate under a community leadership structure that allows fans aged 18+ with internet access to participate and vote on major decisions.

The product offers access to more than 1,500 brands for discounted gift-card purchases and aims to centralize banking, crypto, NFTs, gaming and metaverse services for mainstream users. The company emphasizes ease, transparency and accessibility, and provides unique features intended to bridge Web2 and Web3 experiences. In the coming months Cogni plans to build out Web3 capabilities including a Multichain wallet and a High-Yield Savings account. Cogni says it will continue developing its core technology and infrastructure while expanding its product suite, acquiring users and hiring talent. The company was founded in 2018 and is headquartered in New York City with a second office in San Francisco. Cogni is a New York-based digital banking startup that combines deposit accounts with in-app commerce and lifestyle services through its MyCogni app. The MyCogni app has been tested with a few hundred users and offers a debit card that provides up to 12% cash back at over 160,000 retailers, plus features for invoicing and personalized payment and savings buckets. About 30,000 people have expressed interest in signing up for its early-2019 launch. Cogni closed $1.7 million in seed funding and is 2% owned by Barclays Plc. The company plans to operate on a borrowed charter rather than applying for an independent charter and positions itself more as a technology/lifestyle company than a traditional bank. It expects to derive significant revenue from partnerships with brands rather than from traditional lending margins and has hired a boutique merchant bank to advise its planned Series A.
