- Mist
Participated · Seed · Dec 2023
Mist, founded by John Crutchley and Dave Malcolm, offers a one-stop mobile marketplace where international students can complete a single KYC process and secure essential banking, payments, SIM cards, insurance and lifestyle services pre-departure. By aggregating multiple service providers inside an easy-to-use app, Mist removes the fragmented, in-person onboarding that typically awaits students after arrival. The company has locked in exclusive infrastructure partnerships with Novatti (banking/payments), Xtreme Communications (telco) and ISIC (student ID), and distribution agreements with leading education consultants such as Global Study Partners, StudyLink, MSM Unify and StudyMe that collectively touch roughly 227,000 Australia-bound students annually. Management believes it has first-mover advantage in a market where >90% of students express demand for a single financial-and-lifestyle platform. The addressable market in Australia alone rebounded to 577,295 student visas granted in FY23, a 119% YoY increase, with similar trends expected in the UK, Canada and the US. Backed by founders with deep experience in international banking (Volt Bank, ANZ) and D2C marketing (Marley Spoon, Rockstar Games, Banxa), Mist aims to scale its B2B2C go-to-market model globally. The newly secured pre-seed funding provides the capital base to execute its Australian launch and prepare for expansion into other major study destinations.
- Super Fierce
Participated · Seed · Mar 2022
Super Fierce offers a wealthtech platform that collates users' superannuation information, runs the numbers through a proprietary superannuation calculator, compares every open fund in the market, and generates a digital report and scalable statement of advice. The platform can also assist users with the switching process if requested. It operates alongside the Fierce Impact foundation, which receives $100 for every person who uses Super Fierce to switch funds and aims to donate $100 million to Australian women living at the margins. While bootstrapped and in beta the company generated $137,000 of revenue and, as of February, says it has helped save Australian women $25 million in lifetime super fees, targeting $100 million in savings by July 2022. Super Fierce has secured distribution partnerships, including MyRewards, which the company says provides exposure to millions of Australian women. The company plans to scale operations, invest in marketing and growth, build out its proprietary technology, and launch additional products.
- T-shirt Ventures
Participated · Equity · Jun 2021
T-shirt Ventures builds technology platforms to give choice and control to people navigating the NDIS. Founded in 2018 by Tom Blinksell and Jonathan Salgo, the company operates two products: Provider Choice (NDIS plan management) and HeyHubble (an online marketplace connecting participants to providers). The platforms combine dedicated plan managers with dashboards and matching technology and report helping over 15,000 families while growing over 1,700%. HeyHubble is currently available in Western Australia with plans to expand to additional states. The company says it will use new funding to further develop its technology, products and people to scale and deliver world-class solutions that enable choice and control for people with disability. T-shirt Ventures is a health‑tech company that launched as the parent brand for Provider Choice and the upcoming HeyHubble marketplace, focusing on consumer‑facing products in the disability and broader health space. The business describes itself as a profit‑for‑purpose tech start‑up with a multi‑brand strategy to drive innovation across adjacent markets. Its core product, Provider Choice, is a national NDIS plan manager offering both technology tools and dedicated personal plan managers; HeyHubble is an NDIS marketplace still to launch. The team initially launched Provider Choice with a targeted rollout in Western Australia and reported rapid growth, including through the COVID‑19 pandemic. The company raised capital to support product growth and plans to scale its current suite while pursuing adjacent revenue opportunities.
