  • Kuunda

    Participated · Series A · Oct 2025

Founded in 2018, Kuunda offers an embedded digital lending platform that lets banks and consumer platforms extend overdraft and working-capital credit to agents, micro-SMEs, and consumers. Its Lending-as-a-Service engine analyzes billions of data points to deliver tailored, sustainable credit decisions. The solution integrates directly into mobile money, e-commerce, and gig-economy channels, broadening financial access for underserved users. Kuunda has expanded from its initial markets of Tanzania and Pakistan into Uganda, Malawi, Kenya, and Mozambique, and plans further roll-outs across Africa and the MENA region. To date, the platform has powered more than USD 3 billion in loans and serves over 10 million end users. The company will apply new capital to deepen product innovation and accelerate geographic expansion while continuing to scale its LaaS offering.

  • Shamba Pride

    Led · Equity · Jan 2024

Shamba Pride operates a merchant network of digitized agro-dealers (digishops) that manage inventory ordering, business management and farmer-facing services including market linkages, BNPL and training via a USSD platform. Since 2016 it has built a network of about 2,700 merchants across 24 Kenyan counties and is expanding its franchise network. The company sources inputs from partners such as Elephant Verve to supply climate‑smart seeds and fertilizers. Shamba Pride plans to scale further within Kenya over the next year and later explore neighboring markets such as Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. Its model targets small-scale farmers by addressing sourcing, price volatility, quality challenges and stockouts at the last mile. The team is led by founder and CEO Samuel Munguti. Shamba Pride operates an all-in-one online-to-offline network that digitalizes last-mile agro dealer businesses through technology-enabled "DigiShops." The platform connects smallholder farmers to high-quality inputs, services, education, financial services, and market linkages. Existing agro dealers can use Shamba Pride to digitize operations and become micro-entrepreneurs serving rural farmers. The company already supports more than 1,000 digitalized shops and aims to scale that network nationwide. With new funding, Shamba Pride plans to reach hundreds of thousands of smallholder farmers and improve rural distribution channels. The recent fundraising will support countrywide expansion and broader distribution of its digital solution.

  • Beacon Power Services

    Led · Seed · Aug 2022

Beacon Power Services (BPS) builds AI-enabled grid management software (Adora) and a Customer and Asset Information Management system (CAIMs) to give utilities real-time visibility into network performance and digitize customer/asset data. Its platforms connect to utility assets and customer nodes to preempt outages, identify losses, and help utilities recover revenue and increase daily electricity supply. BPS tailors its products to African operating conditions (for example, poor address systems and frequent outages) rather than relying on off-the-shelf solutions for mature markets. The company has grown from a single utility in Nigeria to four utilities across two countries, including Ghana, covering more than 8 million customers. BPS works with clients as long-term partners and can defer most upfront deployment costs in exchange for service-based payments tied to value created. The company recently closed a $2.7M seed round to upgrade products, add features and automation, and expand into new markets beyond Nigeria and Ghana.
