Strattic provides a platform that turns WordPress sites into static sites, spinning up a WordPress container only when a user is editing and generating static pages for serving. The product reduces the attack surface, improves performance and scalability, and leverages AWS’s CDN to speed delivery. The company says this approach removes much of the need for ongoing maintenance and makes sites significantly harder to hack. Strattic has grown mostly organically and already has real customers. The team recently hired Zeev Suraski (co-creator of PHP 3 and the Zend Engine) as CTO. With the new funding it plans to expand its product team and roll out new features, including work to support site types that currently don’t work (such as some WooCommerce setups).
