SEAFOOD REBOOT is a Paris-based foodtech startup developing next-generation plant-based seafood products using seaweed and algae ingredients. The company was founded less than six months before this round and leverages the team’s extensive expertise in algae to create alternatives that prioritise taste, texture, and nutrition. CEO Simon Ferniot emphasises urgency to shift global diets toward more plant-based food in light of climate and marine-life concerns. The team recently appointed Isabelle Chambaud, PhD (formerly with Danone for over 20 years), as Innovation Director. The €3.2M pre-seed will fund finalisation of R&D, preparation of first-generation alt-seafood products for market, and construction of a pilot production facility. That pilot facility is scheduled to be operational in H1 2023.
- Rainbow
Participated · Equity · Jul 2021
Founded by five entrepreneurs in November 2019, Rainbow operates a portfolio of hemp-based consumer brands, notably Kaya (food products and supplements) and Peace and Skin (organic cosmetics). The brands combine CBD with natural adaptogenic plants and are positioned as on-the-go offerings to help consumers de-stress. Kaya spans ten adaptogenic and CBD-based products, is vegan-friendly, and has had its Novel Foods application verified by the UK Food Standards Agency (application REFRP427) and the European Food Standards Agency. Rainbow reports over 15,000 customers since September 2020, listings at about 1,000 shops across France and the UK, and products marketed in a dozen countries. The company celebrates record sales expected to be close to 5 million by the end of the year and operates from Paris with headquarters also in London and Berlin. Planned growth includes expanding into wider European markets, launching new brands and product ranges based on CBD made in France, and increasing headcount from 35 to 50 employees by the end of 2021. Rainbow is a French cannabis tech startup founded in 2019 that develops hemp- and adaptogenic-plant-based wellness products. It is launching two brands, Kaya (CBD-based daily stress relief products such as chewing gum and candy) and Peace & Skin (organic hemp- and adaptogen-based skin routine), targeting the UK and France. The company emphasizes ecological sourcing—hemp grown 45 minutes from Paris that requires little water and no pesticides—and intends to help change hemp's legal status. Rainbow's team includes Emmanuel Jesberger, Gaétan Laederich, Camille Brocco, Ludovic Rachou and pharmacist Alison Ouvrier-Neyret, drawing on prior consumer and cosmetic experience. The company closed a €1 million funding round from private investors to support the brand launches. Company and brand websites are noted as "coming soon."

Feed is a French startup selling meal-replacement products that began with a powder representing one meal and now also offers cereal-bar equivalents. Its products are vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, GMO-free and made in France. The company has sold 1 million kilograms of powder (over 6.5 million bottles) and sells via its website, in many French supermarkets, and delivers to 30 countries. Feed has built a strong online brand and community with hundreds of thousands of followers and numerous product-test videos. In 2018 the company planned to generate $11.6 million in revenue. Feed positions its products as convenient partial meal replacements and plans to expand into new countries and pursue additional supermarket partnerships across Europe. Feed develops and online-sells complete, balanced “nutritionally perfect” meals packaged into easily consumable forms such as drinks and bars. Its meals are designed and prepared by chefs, nutritionists, and agri-food engineers. The company was founded by Anthony Bourbon in 2016 and is based in Paris. Feed recently raised €3 million to support growth. With the new funding it plans to hire around 20 employees to accelerate development in Europe. The startup will also increase R&D to launch new products, including vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, GM-free and nut-free options, and positions its products as a fast, practical, healthy alternative to traditional meals.
