AIM has built an artificial intelligence-powered mobile app that works alongside existing brokerage firms to let users execute trades and investments via smartphone. The company outsources licensing and compliance to partner brokers, claims to reduce trading costs to 1/40th, and sanitizes user data to lower protection and compliance expenses. AIM’s system is designed to be light on data processing and storage while still executing trades rapidly. The startup launched an open beta with 300 selected users and has more than 4,000 people on a waitlist representing about $166 million in assets. AIM plans to roll out more broadly in Korea first and pursue regional expansion to Singapore and another market in the second half of 2017. The team is targeting a Series A in the second half of 2017 if initial expansion goes to plan.
