  • blindnet

    Participated · Seed · Nov 2024

Blindnet develops privacy technology with the stated mission of making privacy tech accessible and ubiquitous for internet users. The company is headquartered in New York and maintains a subsidiary in Paris, operating a team of around 10 people. In April 2022 Blindnet secured $1.3M in pre-seed funding from a mix of early-stage VCs and business angels. Named supporters include Forum Ventures, Acequia Capital, Elaia Partners, Sharpstone Capital, business angels (including a former Chairman of Microsoft France), and support from Bpifrance. The startup intends to use the funds to continue hiring top talent and to accelerate commercial expansion beyond its current early-adopter base. • baCta

    Participated · Seed · Oct 2024

baCta develops baCtaForge, a strain-engineering platform that combines synthetic biology, robotics and generative AI to design microorganisms that efficiently produce industrial molecules. The system applies bio-based reinforcement learning to uncover genomic regions and regulatory pathways typically missed by conventional methods, cutting development time and cost. The company’s first commercial target is the antioxidant astaxanthin, whose production it is scaling from pilot to commercial volumes through a partnership with a French industrial player. By replacing petrochemical synthesis and limited natural extraction with precision fermentation, baCta addresses cost, seasonality and supply-chain risks in ingredient manufacturing. Proceeds from its latest financing will fund industrial scale-up, validation of manufacturing processes, and expansion of the baCtaForge platform to additional high-value molecules. Founded by Mathieu Nohet and Marie Rouquette, the company positions itself as an enabler of sustainable, large-scale bioproduction.

  • Spore Biotechnologies

    Participated · Seed · Dec 2023

Founded in 2023, Paris-based Spore Biotechnologies (branded Spore.Bio) builds full-stack platforms that combine proprietary biophotonics hardware with machine-learning models to identify microbes at the single-cell level in real time. Traditional microbiological assays take five to twenty days and require off-site labs; Spore’s solution offers immediate, on-site diagnostics by capturing visible, UV, and near-infrared spectral fingerprints from samples and analyzing them with a foundational model trained on millions of images. The technology integrates with an in-house dashboard that gives manufacturers continuous, traceable insight into microbial activity. To accelerate scientific discovery, the company has created Spore.Labs, an AI-native research arm that will publish open datasets and collaborate with academic and clinical partners. Spore.Bio has raised €29.9 million ($35 million) in equity financing to date, including a €22 million Series A led by Singular in February 2023. The company has begun hiring aggressively, expecting to add 30 scientists by 2026. Its new funding and access to Google Cloud resources further strengthen its R&D and commercialization roadmap.

  • NuMind

    Participated · Seed · Mar 2023

NuMind provides a platform that allows B2B and B2C customers to create custom NLP models powered by large language models (LLMs). It uses a proprietary "Interactive AI Development" learning paradigm to enable companies with no ML expertise to quickly build models for tasks such as sentiment analysis, topic detection, content moderation, and chatbots. Initial customers are developing custom models for medical coding, legal report review, user feedback analysis, and matching résumés with job postings for a recruitment firm. The company is led by Etienne Bernard and Samuel Bernard and is based in Paris and Cambridge, Massachusetts. NuMind raised $3M in Seed funding and intends to use the proceeds to accelerate growth and expand operations. Investors in the round include Flybridge, big_bets, Carya Ventures, the Pioneer Fund, Velocity Ventures, Sharpstone Capital and Y Combinator.
