VAPAR builds cloud-hosted AI software that reviews stormwater and sewer pipe inspections to streamline and automate pipe-infrastructure management. The platform hosts utilities' inspection data to make decision-making quicker, easier, and more objective. The company is on a mission to eliminate failures in underground infrastructure and ensure infrastructure investment meets community needs. VAPAR serves water authorities in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Founded in 2018 by Amanda Siqueira and Michelle Aguilar and based in Sydney, Australia, the company raised $5.0M in a Series A in January 2024. - Avarni
Participated · Equity · Nov 2023
Avarni provides a platform that measures carbon emissions across supply chains, identifies emissions hotspots and enables enterprises to invite suppliers to contribute procurement and activity data. The platform calculates supplier-specific emission factors, offers forecasting and initiative-planning tools, and gives actionable steps to reduce emissions. Avarni’s approach lets suppliers access the platform for free to improve data accuracy and collaboration across value chains. Clients span professional services, engineering, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, energy, manufacturing and public-sector organizations, including Schneider Electric, Jacobs, KPMG Australia, Morrison Hershfield and the City of London Corporation. Avarni says it has analyzed more than $1.58 trillion of spend data across 311,000 suppliers and identified over 487 million tonnes of CO2. The company has been expanding U.S. client activity and expects demand to grow as new Scope 3 reporting regulations come into force (including upcoming Australian mandates in mid‑2024). Avarni aggregates supply chain and procurement data into a comprehensive dataset and uses AI to help clients report and forecast their scope 3 carbon footprint. Its platform automates much of the carbon reporting process and claims to reduce reporting time from months to minutes. Since launching last year, Avarni has analyzed more than $100 billion in corporate spending data and 100 million tons of CO2e across public and private markets. Clients include consulting firms such as KPMG Australia and Point B, as well as startups like solar company 5B. The company monetizes via flat monthly fees for professional services and consultancies based on licenses, enterprise fees based on the amount of procurement data analyzed, and a recently launched modular pricing option for componentized services. Avarni differentiates from mainly U.S. competitors (Persefoni, SINAL Technologies, Watershed) by emphasizing its AI and proprietary dataset to speed decarbonization.
- Paypa Plane
Participated · Series A · Mar 2023
Paypa Plane, founded in 2018 and based in Brisbane, provides white-label cloud payments software that lets banks and businesses evolve SME products without changing existing platform infrastructure. The company raised $10 million in a Series A led by the Queensland Investment Fund (QIC). New investors in the round include Mastercard, Cuscal and Sprint Ventures, alongside existing backers Commonwealth Bank and Tyro Payments. Commonwealth Bank had previously acquired a 20% stake in the fintech over a year earlier for an undisclosed sum. Paypa Plane trialled PayTo (the New Payments Platform) with CBA business customers six months before the raise. Following the funding, the company plans to more than double its team from about 40 to 100 over the next five years to support product development, deployment and expansion into the USA while driving growth in Australia.
- Clipboard
Participated · Equity · Oct 2022
Clipboard is an online attendance-tracking and communication platform designed to streamline extracurricular activity management for school staff, students, and parents. The product centralizes sign‑in/attendance and timely communication as students move between activities such as sport, music and excursions. Founders Ed Colyer and Sam Clarke developed the idea in 2017 while at university and coaching sport, and later recruited co‑founder Christiaan Hind to develop the product. Clipboard says it has been adopted by 100 Australian schools and is fielding enquiries from schools overseas. The company describes its category as “EMS” (Extracurricular Management System) and plans to use fresh capital for new functionality and business‑development hires. Until this raise Clipboard grew largely through customer referrals and had no dedicated sales team prior to the funding.
