Lendix operates an online lending marketplace that matches individual and institutional lenders with companies applying for loans, combining algorithmic credit scoring with human underwriting. The company has built an intelligence tool called Iris to aggregate and parse European open-company data for credit insights and potential fraud detection. Lendix currently serves borrowers and lenders in France, Spain and Italy and has opened local offices in Madrid and Milan. The platform already hosts a mix of users and institutional investors, which the company says makes it easier to launch new markets. Lendix aims to speed up lending decisions (currently delivering rates within 48 hours, targeting half a day) and to differentiate from traditional banks. The company plans rapid geographic expansion across Continental Europe over the coming year. Lendix operates a loan marketplace focused on financing European small and medium-sized enterprises. The platform offers loans ranging from €30,000 to €5 million. Led by founder Olivier Goy and COO Patrick de Nonneville, Lendix uses institutional vehicles to fund originated loans. A prior €90m vehicle closed in July 2017 and lent to nearly 250 European SMEs. The new financing vehicle increases Lendix’s capacity to support the growth of more than 600 SMEs. As part of its rollout, €120m of the new vehicle is already committed and the first loans from it will be made in February. Lendix operates a marketplace that matches individual lenders with small and medium companies, typically managing medium-term loans of 3 to 6 years with annual returns of 4–9% for lenders. In its first year the platform managed $22.5 million (€20 million) in business loans and the average amount lent per loan is about €220. Lendix recently acquired competitor Finsquare, giving it the ability to manage short-term loans in addition to its existing medium-term offerings. The company says some investors have committed additional capital to deploy on the platform, and it plans to use funding to finance more deals. Lendix intends to expand into other European countries, starting with Spain and Italy, and will pursue the required licenses for each market. The startup is positioning itself as a simpler, faster alternative to traditional banks for SMEs and is exploring product ideas such as automated reinvestment, tiered loan portfolios, and a secondary matching market for selling positions.
