Terraset

Boulder, Colorado, United States, North America

Overview

Terraset deploys philanthropic capital into high-impact, under-resourced climate solutions. The organization uses tax-deductible donations to purchase permanent, high-quality carbon removal and to fund greenhouse gas removal, super‑pollutant elimination, and emerging climate ideas. Terraset designs financial mechanisms such as pre‑purchase commitments, a revolving fund for greenhouse gas credits, and program-related investments and recoverable grants to move capital earlier into climate projects. It serves climate‑conscious individuals, foundations, family offices, and donor‑advised funds that want to support climate solutions with targeted giving. Through its funding, Terraset aims to build climate markets, create local and ecosystem benefits, and support early-stage projects that are not yet ready for conventional market finance.

StratX develops nature-leveraged landfill covers that combine locally available soil and gravel with indigenous microbes to oxidise methane before it escapes to the atmosphere. The company also builds proprietary measurement technology to reduce uncertainty in landfill gas quantification, enabling the generation of high-integrity, permanent carbon credits. StratX was developed with support from Deep Science Ventures. Its commercial model installs covers at no cost to landfill operators or municipalities and shares top-line carbon credit revenues with operators, host governments and local communities, positioning older landfills as potential revenue-generating assets. Pilot projects are being assessed in the Global South, with initial site focus in Tanzania, Colombia and Chile, and broader deployments planned across Asia, Africa and South America using the newly raised capital. The company aims to address both climate and local public-health risks from unmanaged dumpsites through fast-to-deploy, low-cost interventions.
