Founded in 2012 by former bankers Boris Batin and Alexander Dunaev, ID Finance positions itself as a leading consumer fintech in Spain and Mexico. The company’s core offering is Plazo, a financial-wellness app launched in Spain in 2021 that bundles payments, savings and credit while using advanced data science to help underserved users build better credit profiles. Plazo has amassed more than 190,000 customers and recently partnered with Meeting Pros to add free medical, legal and veterinary consultations to the app. ID Finance reported consolidated 2023 revenue of €180 million, up 13 % year-on-year, and group net income of €7.1 million. Its Spanish lending arm remains the profit engine, issuing €266 million in new loans, generating €124 million in revenue and €12.5 million in net profit with a 56.1 % ROE. Management sees the latest financing as a springboard to scale Plazo across Spain and, eventually, new markets while deepening its product suite. The company says its mission is to improve financial wellness and inclusivity for underserved consumers.
