  • Tesoro XP

    Led · Seed · Jan 2026

Tesoro XP offers a plug-and-play engine that enables game publishers to embed real-world retail offers directly into free-to-play titles, allowing players to earn in-game currency when they shop at participating merchants. By linking retailer marketing spend to game engagement on a performance basis, the platform aims to broaden access to virtual economies for the 220 million U.S. free-to-play gamers—especially those currently priced out of microtransactions, where only 15 % of players drive 65 % of App Store gaming revenue. Retailers only pay after a purchase is verified, giving them a trackable, loyalty-driven marketing channel, while publishers add a new revenue stream without charging players. The company plans to launch in Q1 2026 and is building an SDK for developers, a publisher portal, and an expanded merchant pipeline. Seed funding will accelerate engineering and business-development hiring to support these efforts. Tesoro XP was founded by Sami Khan, Tim Mahler, and Beau Button—veterans behind ATLAS:EARTH, which surpassed $100 million in lifetime revenue—leveraging their experience with large-scale virtual economies. The company is headquartered in Austin, Texas. Financial metrics for Tesoro itself have not yet been disclosed beyond the current funding round.

  • April

    Led · Series A · Jun 2022

april is an embedded, year-round, AI-powered tax platform that provides white-labeled tax filing and planning tools to financial institutions. Its API-first infrastructure ingests partner data to pre-fill federal and state forms into a single flow, reducing median time to file to 22 minutes and delivering a Net Promoter Score above 60. During the 2024 tax season april was available to millions of Americans through more than 50 partners and processed hundreds of thousands of returns; partners saw refund deposit rates over 98%. The company has launched self-service, pro-assisted, and pro-led filing options and tools for paycheck withholding optimization and quarterly payments, and is developing solutions for capital gains, retirement planning, and small business scenarios. Year to date the business has tripled in size, and april became the first new company in over 15 years to achieve national e-file coverage in early 2025. With $78 million in total funding and an AI tax engine built to handle complex situations, april aims to embed tax intelligence across major financial platforms so users can forecast, optimize, and file taxes inside the apps they already use. April builds an AI and machine-learning-powered tax engine that parses tax code and financial documents to personalize and autofill tax filings. Users connect payroll, bank statements, mortgage data, prior-year returns and other finance apps; April analyzes significant tax events and generates filing documents. The company offers an SDK so developers and fintech partners can embed its capabilities into apps and websites and partners with banks and firms such as Propel. Since its launch earlier this year, April says it has helped several thousand taxpayers file taxes in an average of 15 minutes, enabled access to millions in refunds, and has commitments of tens of thousands of filings for next year. April currently has about 30 employees and plans to grow to roughly 50 by year end. The company plans to invest new capital in R&D and increase operational capacity ahead of the next tax season.

  • Tumelo

    Led · Series A · May 2022

Tumelo offers APIs and white-label software that show investors which companies their money is invested in and collect investor vote preferences on issues such as CEO pay, board diversity and climate change. The collected vote preferences are sent to fund managers, who hold the power to effect change through voting at company AGMs. Tumelo says its technology strengthens investor loyalty, drives increased AUM and retention, and can help win large workplace pension accounts. Tumelo describes itself as impact-focused and positions its product for investment platforms, robo-advisors and pension providers. The new funding will be used to build more partnerships and to expand into the US and Australia. Tumelo offers an investment-transparency platform that shows users where their money is invested and provides tools to take action, including shareholder voting, joining campaigns, and switching to ethical fund and pension options. The company was founded by Georgia Stewart while she studied at Cambridge University after a successful university activism campaign to change Cambridge’s £6 billion endowment investments. Tumelo has received support from Addleshaw Goddard’s AG Elevate programme, which provided mentoring and legal guidance during product development. The recent £1 million funding will be used to perfect the platform and expand the team from seven to 12, adding developers and UX specialists. The platform offers payments, exchange and multi-currency accounts for freelancers, SMEs and corporates and supports exchanges in over 200 countries across 39 currencies (up from 120 countries and 19 currencies previously).
