Civilized AI is a New Orleans–based “gov-tech” startup founded in 2023 by serial entrepreneur Matt Wisdom after his $75 million exit from TurboSquid. The company builds AI agents that integrate with city websites, databases, and communication channels—chat, text, email, and more—to let residents request services and help governments manage workflows. Its debut product, ChatNOLA, launched in February and has already enabled a single power user to submit 222 service requests through the city’s 311 system, illustrating early traction. Civilized AI positions its platform as a step beyond conventional 311 portals, offering content management, controlled knowledge bases, and complex workflow automation for comprehensive municipal operations. The startup intends to scale its technology to cities nationwide, addressing aging infrastructure and long-standing inefficiencies in local governments. To finance product development and hiring, the company has secured a $2 million seed round, placing it in the top 17 % of Southeast seed deals over the last year, according to PitchBook data.
