  • WafR

    Participated · Seed · Feb 2026

WafR operates a platform that digitises sales and bill payments through a network of nearly 20,000 active corner stores or 'hanouts' in Morocco. The company converts these merchants into distribution points aimed at improving financial inclusion. Its roadmap includes expanding services to enable peer-to-peer transfers and nationwide remittances. WafR has demonstrated traction through its broad merchant network and has secured a $4 million seed round to support growth. The company’s funding and expansion efforts are supported by LoftyInc Capital, whose Alpha Fund targets startups with proven traction but constrained access to growth capital.

  • Chari

    Participated · Series A · Oct 2025

Founded in 2020 by husband-and-wife team Ismael and Sophia Belkhayat, Chari began as a mobile marketplace enabling corner shops to procure fast-moving consumer goods directly from distributors. The company has since evolved toward a banking-as-a-service model, using its recently obtained payment-institution licence from Bank Al-Maghrib to embed digital payments, credit, and other financial tools inside its merchant app. More than 20,000 small retailers across Morocco, Tunisia, and Côte d’Ivoire now use Chari’s platform, making it one of the region’s largest informal-retail digitisation plays. With a “super app” approach, Chari aims to transform these mom-and-pop stores into grassroots financial access points for underbanked communities. Future plans include opening its in-house financial rails to third-party developers, positioning the startup as a regional fintech enabler across Francophone Africa. To date, Chari has raised roughly $17 million in venture funding, which supports both its commerce logistics operations and the build-out of its fintech infrastructure.

  • Nascent Materials

    Participated · Seed · Jun 2025

Nascent Materials is building a manufacturing-focused process to produce cathode materials (initially LFP and LMFP) with more consistent particle size and shape. The company’s process reportedly uses less energy and can improve cathode energy density by up to 12% while cutting production costs by about 30%. That consistency helps pack material more tightly and can tolerate lower-purity raw inputs, opening up more domestic supply options. Founder Chaitanya Sharma draws on experience at Tesla’s Gigafactory and as head of iM3NY, where inconsistent material quality contributed to iM3NY’s Chapter 11 filing in January. Nascent positions its technology as a supply-chain play to reduce reliance on China for cathode material. The company says it plans to expand beyond LFP and LMFP to other chemistries, including NMC and lithium-manganese-rich (LMR).

  • NitroFix

    Participated · Seed · Oct 2024

NitroFix develops an electrolyzer that transforms water and air into ammonia using a proprietary catalyst licensed from the Weizmann Institute. Its catalyst works submerged in water, allowing hydrogen to be generated and consumed in the same container and removing a separate hydrogen-production step. The company has moved the catalyst from a suspended powder to a fixed cathode panel roughly one square foot in size and is focused on improving cathode performance while outsourcing other electrolyzer components. With its cathode, NitroFix can produce one metric ton of ammonia using nine megawatt-hours of electricity, with other plant operations adding roughly one additional megawatt-hour. The startup plans to work with another company to produce completed electrolyzers and to target customers in regions with high natural gas costs as well as firms that might prefer on-site production, such as pharmaceutical and food manufacturers. NitroFix was a finalist in TechCrunch Disrupt 2024’s Startup Battlefield and is preparing the technology for industrial use.
